The Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) identified youth education and employment as one of their main service priorities. One challenge facing our youth today is their lack of marketable skills for sustainable employment. Recognizing this challenge, the CPLC has established Student Leadership Bursary Awards to assist post-secondary students achieve marketable skills through further education and apprenticeship programs. This one-time $1,000.00 bursary is awarded to one student from each of the eight secondary schools in 31 Division.
Since its inception, we have had over 100 high school students from Downsview SS, Westview Centennial SS, Monsignor Fraser, James Cardinal McGuigan Secondary, St. Basil-the-Great College School, C. W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute, Emery Collegiate Institute, and Madonna Catholic Secondary apply for this bursary annually.
