On Saturday June 11, 2022, Toronto Police 31 Division Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) held its Open House and Student Leadership Award Bursary Ceremony after a two year hiatus due to COVID-19. The event was a great success in part attributable to the attendance of over 500 community members.
The attendees enjoyed bbq, pizza, cookies, music, press-on tattoos, pop-corn, cotton candy, and tours of the police station. They also interacted with the Mounted Unit, Emergency Management and Public Order Unit, Traffic Services, and Court Services.
We had two special guest speakers: Chief James Ramer, and Mayor John Tory who announced the expansion of the Neighbourhood Community Officer (NCOs) program into 13 neighbourhoods.
Our Open House is a special event for our community. It gives the community an opportunity to meet and develop relationships with our officers. We also had representatives from the construction trades attend and give information about employment opportunities.
It was also a time to present our eight Student Leadership Award Bursary recipients who attend secondary schools in 31 Division and were the recipients of a one-time $1,000.00 bursary award toward their post-secondary education tuition fees.
By way of these types of events our officers and CPLC aim to develop and nurture meaningful partnerships with our communities and the Toronto Police Service through trust, transparency, understanding, and shared knowledge, to improve safety and security within our communities.
Thank you so much to all of our sponsors, donors, participating organizations and to everyone who worked hard to make this event happen including our hard-working NCO's , volunteers, and dedicated CPLC members.
Thank you even more so to all of our community members who came out and enjoyed some food and fellowship with our officers.

Getting to know our community really is the best part of policing!
